Orthodontics (braces)

ortho_1

Orthodontic Braces are used to help straighten the teeth into proper form and to help correct a patient’s bite. Overbites, underbites, open bites and cross bites are some typical cases of malocclusion in which braces are required.

Once the individual brackets and orthodontic wire are installed onto the teeth, adjustments are routinely made every 4-6 weeks until completion of treatment. Braces are usually worn for one to two and a half years depending on the severity of malocclusion and patient compliance. Retainers are usually fabricated, to be worn after the braces come off, to ensure that the teeth don’t shift back into malocclusion.
